“Stranger Things” Season 2 release date has not been confirmed. However, showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer (the Duffer Brothers), are keeping fans guessing, revealing a little here, a little there but not revealing too much. [Spoiler Alert] Recently they hinted at a possibility of pairing Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) together when the next season returns.

In “Stranger Things” Season 1 finale, Hopper was seen leaving Eggos in the woods, possibly for Eleven as she loves to have them. The season ended on this major cliff-hanger making fans speculate that the Chief may have important information as to the whereabouts of Eleven or may have established contact with her.

He is full of guilt because at heart he knows he agreed to put the little girl’s life in danger in exchange of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp). He simply wants to help her out.

Eleven killed the monster in the season finale and then vanished. Something terrible may have happened to her. Matt and Ross wanted to end it just like that to keep the mystery going.

“Have there been sightings in the woods or is he hoping she’s out there or has he already made contact with her? We don’t answer any of that, but we like the idea of potentially putting her and Hopper together,” Matt told Variety in July.

Moreover, a Hopper-Eleven pairing would also be beneficial for Hopper’s emotional health. He divorced his wife and slipped into alcoholism and drugs after his daughter died. He never really came out of it. Even though he went to great lengths to save Will, at heart he is still full of guilt for selling Eleven out.

Thus, Hopper will have peace only when he knows Eleven is safe and out of danger. Eleven’s company would mean a lot to him and together they are a much better match for Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) who is set to return when “Stranger Things” Season 2 airs.
