A major “Rogue One” character may soon be featured in “Star Wars Rebels” season 3. The production team has for long been teasing a connection to the movie, and now there is proof to suggest how the two will be connected.

[Spoiler alert]

The animation TV series tells the tale of how the Rebellion was formed gradually over the years. The events are set long before “Rogue One” movie. Now, there is confirmation that a character seen in the film will be a part of the show soon.

A poster of the TV series found on the Twitter page of Rebels Reactions shows Saw Gerrera, a character who was seen in “Clone Wars” TV series as a young man, and is played by Forest Whitaker in “Rogue One.” The character will now appear as an older man, and the dialogue “save the Rebellion. Save the dream” confirms it is him.

The plot of the next two episodes of “Star Wars Rebels” season 3 may take the heroes to Geonosis, judging by the title “Ghosts of Geonosis” part 1 and 2. Gerrera’s homeworld is Onderon, so it is not clear if the character will appear right away.

Gerrera fought against the Separatists during the Clone Wars, and later fought against the Republic when it transformed into the Empire. His was amongst the first few cells in the galaxy to raise the banner of rebellion.

Apart from the story about the fight against the Empire, the animation TV series is also about the personal journey of Ezra Bridger (Taylor Gray). He is training to be a Jedi, and has had to resist temptations of joining the Dark Side of the Force.

Ezra and his band of friend will continue the fight when “Star Wars Rebels” season 3 returns on Jan 7 next year. With only four episodes left, the TV series is racing towards the finale.
