Fans were ecstatic after hearing rumours about Tom Hardy playing Boba Fett in “Star Wars: Episode 8.” A new report now debunks this rumour and reveals the role the actor is playing in the movie along with a scene description.

[Spoiler alert]

Tom Hardy will be playing the role of a First Order Stormtrooper, Making Star Wars reports. This will not be a major role and will be a cameo appearance just like the one Daniel Craig had in “The Force Awakens.” It is not clear if Hardy will even remove the helmet in his scene.

The scene involves Finn (John Boyega) on a secret mission when suddenly a Stormtrooper walks up behind him and slaps him on his butt. The First Order soldier who catches Finn is Hardy’s character.

The First Order apparently didn’t reveal anything about Finn crossing over to the enemy’s side to any of the other soldiers. Most of the people who knew about it died when the Starkiller base was destroyed. So, Hardy’s character assumes that Finn is on a secret mission in “Star Wars: Episode 8.”

Hardy’s character knew Finn from the time they were together at the academy of First Order. The Stormtrooper allows Finn to go about his business, believing that his friend has been promoted to be a Resistance infiltrator and spy.

The Stormtrooper congratulates Finn on his “promotion” and leaves. Finn, on the other hand was sure that he would be captured or killed and is relived at the sudden turn of events.

The report points out that the leaders of the First Order would not want details about what happened at the Starkiller base to leak, especially the news about one of their own defecting to the enemy. Such news would affect the moral of the troops.

“Star Wars: Episode 8” is set to be released on Dec. 15, 2017 in Australia. The movie is set to introduce new characters and new worlds.
