The popular droids R2-D2 and C-3PO will get more screen time in “Star Wars: Episode 8,” according to a new leak. The two characters have been a part of all three trilogies from the franchise and have also appeared in the animation series.

[Spoiler alert]

R2-D2 (Jimmy Vee) and C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) did not get a lot of screen time in J.J. Abrams’ “The Force Awakens,” owing to the fact that they had to introduce a large number of new characters that included the new soccer droid BB-8. That may change in the next movie, as I Was Raised to do One Thing has a source that claims the two characters will get more screen time in the new movie.

According to the report, R2-D2 will be with Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) throughout the film. The two characters were last seen on the desert planet Ahch-To and the next movie will pick up right where “The Force Awakens” left off.

Luke is expected to train Rey in the ways of the Force in “Star Wars: Episode 8.” R2-D2 could be a witness to the journey of the young woman as she trains to become a Jedi.

Meanwhile, C-3PO will be seen with Chancellor Valara, while Leia (Carrie Fisher) is unconscious. It is not clear if there will be an assassination attempt on Leia that leads her to become unconscious.

Although the two droids get more screen time, they will not be seen together most of the time, given that they will be with different characters. R2-D2 and C-3PO will reportedly share only one scene together, which will be towards the end when Luke and Rey rejoin the Resistance.

R2-D2 is said to have a “very used look,” as the most common astromech droid across the galaxy now is the BB unit. C-3PO will finally get a new arm in “Star Wars: Episode 8,” so the droid will be gold plated from head to toe.
