New rumours and plot leaks about “Star Wars: Episode 8” have surfaced online. A major Jedi character will reportedly return in the next movie. Another report states that there will be a dark flashback sequence that will shed more light on Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren’s back story.

[Spoiler alert]

According to a Reddit post, the original team that worked on the Yoda puppet has been hired to work for the next movie. The revelation was made at the Star Wars Celebrations event in Europe by someone who was working in the Yoda stall.

The report also suggests that the first scene of the movie will be on the planet Ahch-To. Although Director Rian Johnson has confirmed that there won’t be any time gap this time around, the revelation means that this will be the first time that the first scene in the movie will not be in space.

Commenting on the post, some of the fans pointed out that “Star Wars: Episode 8” could still begin in space over Ahch-To. The scene could then transition to the events on the planet.

Meanwhile, a new report by Making Star Wars states that there will be a flashback scene in the next movie. Just as in “The Force Awakens,” this also appears to be a vision of Rey (Daisy Ridley). The scene shows dead adolescent Padawans of Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) Jedi Order.

The flashback scene is said to involve Luke, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Rey and the droid R2-D2. This is also said to be the time when a hooded Luke puts his hand on the droid to essentially say goodbye. So, the death of the Padawans appears to be the trigger that sent Luke to Ahch-To.

The flashback scene in “Star Wars: Episode 8” is expected to give a glimpse of why Ben Solo turned to the Dark Side of the Force. It is not clear how Yoda will return in the movie. The character previously appeared as a Force Ghost in the original trilogy.
