Lupita Nyong’o has expressed her displeasure about “rumours” surrounding her character in “Star Wars: Episode 8.” The actress confirmed that her character, Maz Kanata, will be in the movie, but is not sure if all her scenes will make the final cut.

Speaking in an interview on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” she was asked about her role in the upcoming movie, Time reports. Fans had been speculating that the actress’ character may not be featured in the film. Nyong’o (Maz Kanata) said that she has “no idea” where that “rumour” came from. She said that such talk “hurt” her feelings.

Nyong’o confirmed that she has already filmed her scenes for the film. She pointed out that actors don’t always know when they will shoot their scenes, and which scenes will be cut. She said that she has her fingers crossed and added that as far as she knows Maz Kanata is in “Star Wars: Episode 8.”

The host of the show pointed out that the fans were concerned that Nyong’o didn’t have time to film here scenes because she was busy with her other commitments. But, the actress confirmed that she has shot her scenes.

Just a little over a week ago Nyong’o told Collider that she was yet to film her scenes. That statement stumped many fans because filming of the movie has already wrapped and director Rian Johnson previously teased that the film is in the post production phase of development.

It is not clear if Nyong’o was part of the additional filming that may have begun in the past few weeks. The actress plays a motion capture character, so most of her scenes may be shot indoors in the studio.

“Star Wars: Episode 8” is set to be released on Dec. 15, 2017 in Australia. Apart from the cast members from “The Force Awakens,” the new cast members include Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern.
