Rey may be seen fighting Stormtroopers using a lightsaber in “Star Wars: Episode 8.” Although her choice of weapon is a staff, Daisy Ridley released a video of her training for the movie using a short staff and she appears to be making lighsaber movies.

Ridley (Rey) posted a video of her training for an action sequence in the movie. She uses a short staff, mostly using her right hand, as she performs various manoeuvres. The moves are similar to what are used in a lighsaber duel, but it is not clear who she will be fighting in the scene.

In her post, she teased that she was training with “traitor,” which may be a reference to a Stormtrooper from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” In one of the action sequences in the John Abrams movie, Finn (John Boyega) is confronted by a former colleague. The Stormtrooper only had one dialogue and he calls Finn a traitor in the scene.

The Stormtrooper became an instant fan favourite and fans started calling the unnamed Stormtrooper, Tr-8R which sounds like “traitor.” Ridley’s post now suggests that Tr-8r may be featured in “Star Wars: Episode 8.” The actress revealed that the actor was a Wushu master, which is a form of martial arts, and she was always trying to get him to teach her something.

Ridley also said that the stunt team for the movie was “the most incredible group” and that she was “lucky” to be able to train with them. Filming of the forthcoming movie is currently ongoing at Pinewood Studios and the movie promises more action with Rey at the centre.

“Star Wars: Episode 8” is being directed by Rian Johnson. The movie is slated to be released on Dec. 15, 2017 in Australia. The movie is expected to focus on Rey training to use the Force under the guidance of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).
