Their music is hard to classify, according to the members of Australian band, Jezabels. Hayley Mary recognizes her devotion to Queen could be an inspiration, but guitarist, Sam Lockwood, discovered reviews of tagging their music as "power pop".

According to front woman Mary, they haven't decided what kind of genre they have. "It's just a combination of four very different tastes," the vocalist stated.

Jezabels is one of the most promising Australian acts and has made their way in the past two years. Without releasing an album even until today, Jezabels garnered fan base in Australia and even overseas. They had good reviews and airplay in the US for their songs like Mace Spray, Easy to Love and Disco Biscuit.

Jezebels' performance two months ago at Splendour in the Grass in Queensland, was one of the most talked about performance. They will have an Australian tour next month.

The group was formed in 2007. At that time the four members we're all studying at the University of Sydney. The two women before are acoustic guitar-violin folk duo. "We we're in high school so we weren't taking it very seriously," said Haley Mary. "Those we're the instruments we had so that's how we wrote."

Hayley admitted that she never had deep appreciation to contemporary music until she joined the band. Most of their songs we're done by Mary. The lyrics of their songs have strong literary and poetic flow. A proof of this can be seen on their current song titled Endless Summer, wherein there's a part there says "nowt to e're be touched by the feasting tendrils of the night" and "mistakes make mantelpieces bend."

Hayley's magnificent, sweeping voice is not complete without Shannon's airy keyboard parts, Lockwood's grand guitar styles and Kaloper's bombastic drumming.

The Australian tour will begin on Oct. 7 at Caloundra, Queensland, followed by shows in different parts of North America, after which they will return to Australia for festival appearances which includes Falls Festival over the New Year and hopefully in January at Big Day out.

There are a lot of great things to expect from this incredible band to watch for.
