Chinese TV news programs reported that a man in Changchun actually has a pet turtle that easily smokes 10 cigarettes a day! A smoking turtle, yes, you read it right. It even makes weird hissing sounds when it wants one. How's that for a craving?

Animals that learn to smoke isn't something unfamiliar. But, so far, we've mostly heard of monkeys picking up this habit. This is not the first time an animal became addicted to cigarettes. Shirley, an Orangutan from Malaysia, was hooked to smoking, too. She pleaded visitors for cigarettes for her everyday cravings, and unfortunately, people often offered her some only so they could be amused.

But a turtle that smokes?

The caretaker said his owner's pet reptile had a chicken bone stuck in its underbelly which he tried to remove. And the turtle tried to bite him because of the pain, nearly taking off his fingers, so to pacify the animal, he put a lit cigarette in its mouth. It held on to the cigarette and didn't let it go for hours. The turtle was hooked to cigarettes ever since. It makes hissing sounds to let its keeper know it needs another cigarette and ends up smoking about 10 a day!

Initially, it was entertaining, Tang, the caretaker told the Changchun Evening News, but now he felt responsible for getting the turtle nicotine-addicted to smoking. He said he ends up shelling out too much money on tobacco for the turtle and doesn't want to share cigarettes with him any more. Well, how hard is it to make a turtle quit smoking? Just don't put that cigarette in its mouth! But apparently, that's not an option.

That's how it starts - one cigarette to calm you down and then you're a smoking teen turtle sensation!

Shouldn't this smoking turtle have its own reality show by now?
