Following the tragedy that severely damaged the hands of her 15-year-old autistic son to be severed just two days before Mother's Day, Rebecca Boggan, the mum of the victim, called for the closure of all Web sites that contain instructions on how to make bombs like this one.

She made the appeal based on a belief that the improvised homemade explosive was made by the young people who gave the gold-ball sized bomb to Michael Boggan based on how-to instructions they got from the Internet.

The police believe the ball bearings that were used came from a scooter. More information about the incident are expected to shed light after the police interviews the victim on Monday or Tuesday.

Sketchy reports said that the youth who have the explosive to Michael said it has heroin and even asked a cigarette from him in exchange. The teen lost six fingers and also had chest injuries resulting from the bomb explosion.

To cover the bones on his limbs following the amputation of his hones, skin from Michael's stomach and thighs would be used. Doctors will also recreate a thumb for him using one of his toes. He is expected to be confined in the hospital for three months.

To help the Boggan family with the expenses involved in the medical procedures, Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale launched a fundraising appeal. The mayor said many Australians emailed and called to media to contribute to the fund.

Mrs Boggan herself had to be hospitalised on Friday due to an anxiety attack over the incident.

Despite his injuries, Michael even greeted Mrs Boggan a happy Mother's Day and gave her a present he purchased hours before the bomb permanently altered his life.
