"Reign" Season 2 premiered last week, with an episode called "The Plague." A total of 1.3 million viewers tuned in to watch the episode. The low numbers have triggered the speculations that the series may get cancelled soon. The return of Francis to the castle with Lola and their son might make more viewers tune in to watch episode 2 of "Reign" Season 2, which is called "Drawn and Quartered."

In the last episode, Francis could not send Lola and their son away on a ship after he held the newborn in his arms. He will be returning to the castle with them. This is going to create tension with Mary. Also, Mary and Francis' relationship is likely to get tested, as Mary will not be able to get pregnant. Also, it looks like Mary's decisions, taken in the last episode, are going to add to the tension.

In the absence of Francis, Mary emerged as the leader in "The Plague." The new Queen of France was seen assuring her subjects, ordering her guards and punishing someone because he killed his enemy's family. A healthy Lord Edward was thrown into a room of people who were infected with plague, as he used poison to kill his enemy's family. Yvette, too, died with the family members of Edward's enemy after drinking a cup of water at their chamber.

In episode 2, Lord Edward's father Narcisse will come to the castle, seeking revenge for his son's death. He will be seen blaming Nostradamus for Edward's death. According to the preview clip, Francis will order his guards to take Nostradamus away for questioning. The preview indicates that a deadly punishment awaits Nostradamus. It is Mary who is likely to stop the horses from tearing apart the body of Nostradamus. In the preview, she can be seen saying to Francis, "This was my mistake. I'll fix it."

Speaking about his character Narcisse and what he is going to do, Craig Parker said to TV Line, "there's an absolute father's fury there, but it's tempered by a very savvy political mind. Throughout the episodes we've shot so far, there are a number of personal sides to this man, but he's always playing a political game."

Meanwhile, Bash will be appointed as King Francis' deputy. Torrance Coombs, who plays Bash, said to The Hollywood Reporter (THR) that Bash will be doing "all the dirty work that needs to be done." Also, he said that Season 2 "very much deals with how Francis learns how to be king."

Also in "Drawn and Quartered," Greer will find herself in an uncomfortable situation, as her fiancé Castleroy will blame Leith for the death of his daughter.
