The Wrap reveals that Lychnikoff will appear in a recurring role in the next season as Ivan Belikov, a Russian gangster whom the LAPD is after. It is still uncertain how long he will be playing the role.

In Season 4, Ray (Liev Schreiber) is expected to be very much the same person that he was in previous seasons, despite the big revelations and self-discoveries that he went through. He is also expected to face bigger threats, more powerful enemies and insurmountable challenges.

Lychnikoff, 51, also called Pavel, was born in Moscow, Russia, and has created an impressive resume through the years, according to IMDB. He has appeared in several plays, TV shows and films, but may be most notable for his recurring roles in “Deadwood,” “Big Bang Theory” and “Big Apple.”

Several new cast members have also been announced to appear in the new season. Deadline reports that Dominique Columbus will join the show as Damon, a homeless but street-smart teenager. Columbus previously worked on “Nine Rides” and “Extremis.” TV Line also states that Lisa Bonet of “The Cosby Show” will take on the role of Marisol, an unstable woman who holds a damaging secret. Variety shared that Gabriel Mann will take on the role of Jacob Waller, an aggressive attorney, and will appear in three episodes.

The Hollywood Reporter, however, shares that Paige (Katie Holmes) will not be reappearing in Season 4, since she is working on another TV project. However, producer David Hollander said that Paige’s family will continue to be a part of the upcoming story, although not as a centrepiece. Season 4 will be emotional and also feature a lot of action as Ray tries to get in touch with his past more and leads him to develop a new form of relationship.

There will also be new guest stars in the next season, namely Embeth Davidtz, Billy Lush, Chris Coppola, Ismael Cruz Cordova and Ted Levine.

“Ray Donovan” Season 4 is slated to premiere in summer 2016 on Showtime. The official launch date has yet to be announced.
