Australia’s tourism and accommodation industry has voiced worries on the threats it faces as a result of the continuing action by airline unions against Qantas.

The airline now has the pilots' union, the licensed aircraft maintenance engineers union, and the Transport Workers’ Union all ramping up their coordinated industrial campaign against Qantas.

The CEO of the Accommodation Association of Australia, Richard Munro, said all threats to the livelihood of businesses operating in the tourism and accommodation industry are unwelcome.

“It is disappointing that union industrial action against Qantas may negatively influence the travel plans of holiday‐makers and business travelers as the tourism and accommodation industry prepares for its busiest period,” Munro said in a statement.

“The livelihood of tourism and accommodation operators across Australia depends on travelers being able to get to destinations. The potential for a detrimental impact on these operators as a result of union industrial action against Qantas is of great concern for the Australian Accommodation Association."

Therefore, Munro said, "The Accommodation Association of Australia would welcome a reasonable and fair resolution to the disputes.”

On Friday, Qantas engineers said they will conduct no further industrial action this month after holding a four-hour stoppage.
