The weather might be getting colder but viewers will be taken to a warmer part of the globe in this upcoming episode of “Planet Earth II.”

Spoiler alert! This article contains “Planet Earth II” spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens next before the next episode airs.

In this upcoming episode of “Planet Earth II,” viewers are about to witness one of the largest plagues of apocalyptic locusts ever caught on camera. The swarm that will be featured is composed of billions of individual insects that stretch across 300 square kilometres and would eat their way through 40,000 tons of food in a day.

Host Sir David Attenborough will be astonished as he will showcase how the legion of crawling insects could become even deadlier when they suddenly spread their own wings and turn into a devastating whirlwind. This upcoming episode of “Planet Earth II,” titled “Deserts,” will focus on desert wildlife, more particularly when the dry land would have some life after the rains.

Attenborough will proceed to explain as the camera zooms in on the insects that there could be no other creature that could exploit the greening of the desert more quickly or more substantially than the locust. He also points out that Madagascar and south-west had just received their highest rainfall amount in many years. So, the smell of newly sprouted grass will be attracting a battalion very soon.

A little later, the stale ground will start crawling with hungry insects. Attenborough will point out that these creatures are normally solitary but when food becomes abundant all of a sudden, they will assemble themselves into an unstoppable force that will consume almost anything that stands in their way.

There is also much more to see on this upcoming episode of “Planet Earth II.” “Deserts” will feature a tiny mole that is only the size of a ping pong ball and is completely blind. Viewers will also see a battle between a long-eared bat and a death stalker scorpion. Viewers will also see a bird that lives 100 kilometers away from the nearest source of water but has a unique ability to absorb water into its feathers.

This episode of “Planet Earth II” will air on BBC One on Sunday November 27. Gizmodo writes that the show will also air on Channel Nine in Australia, but not until 2017.
