Pizza Hut, an American restaurant chain, has decided to celebrate Australia Day, which falls on Jan 26, by introducing a pizza called the Mitey Stuffed Crust. Melted Cheese and vegemite, an Australian salty food paste made from yeast extract and is a favourite spread among the Australians, will be the filling for the crust of the pizza.

The stuffed crust pizza would be in competition with McDonald's McOz for the title of "most true blue offering by an American fast food chain" on Australia Day. In 2014, Pizza Hut introduced cheeseburger stuffed crust.

According to news.com.au, the rest of the world winced in disgust to the move by Pizza Hut. A one-minute advertisement that was filmed in a Bondi Beach showed international reviews of the move. The reviews did not seem to show any sort of enthusiasm.

Travellers from places such as Britain, Germany and Chile took a bite of the gooey crust. A few said that it tasted like medicine, while others said that it either tasted like petrol or fish jam. One of the travellers from Chile said that it was disgusting. The advertisement ended with the statement: "Made for Australia."

Fatima Syed, the head of marketing of Pizza Hut, said that the filling of the crust with melted cheese and vegemite was a representation of an "Australian rite of passage." She said that many of the Australians enjoyed the pairing of the two since childhood. Cheese and Vegemite, in Australia, was a classic combination for a sandwich that was usually found in the lunch boxes of most kids.

According to Syed, the stuffed crust pizza worked well with all their topping combinations. The limited edition pizza crust could be added to any pizza and would be available for an additional price of $3 and would be available for a span of 3 weeks starting Jan 20. She added that they could not think of a more quintessentially pizza for the Aussie audience to be launched right in time for Australia Day.

The Australians were confused over the new item in the menu. A few of them took to social media to express their views on the item. Some were in apocalyptic horror, while others were amazed.
