With the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao bout still far from being realised, it appears there are some factions, particularly from the Pacquiao camp, who are willing to go the extra mile just make the super fight happen in 2015; even if it means bypassing founder Bob Arum.

A report from Fight Hype’s writer Ben Thompson has revealed that a certain member or members of Team Pacquiao is willing to talk to The Money Team, with or without consent and permission from Arum or Michael Koncz, Pacquiao’s current adviser, and even mentioned that the pair is blocking the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao potential fight.

"In Vegas from the 30th-Jan 3rd and would love a chance to sit with MM [Money Mayweather] and bring the truth back to MP [Manny Pacquiao], so MP will know it has been Koncz and Bob blocking all along,” the Fight Hype report stated quoting what was apparently an email from one of the Pacquiao representatives.

There is indeed bad blood between Arum and Mayweather owing to a strained relationship between the two some years back. After working together as boxer-promoter in the mid-2000s, Mayweather left Arum’s Top Rank Promotions and it even led to breach of contract accusations by Mayweather against Arum.

“Mayweather claims that Arum shortchanged him on matches against Arturo Gatti in 2005 and Zab Judah in 2006. In the lawsuit, Mayweather said he was due 85% of Top Rank's revenue from the Gatti fight and 80% from the Judah fight. He claims Arum has refused to turn over the records for accounting,” A New York Daily News report stated in a 2008 article.

Many boxing enthusiasts and experts are claiming that there is zero chance that Arum and Mayweather will work together again, especially after their legal and personal battles years ago. Some are even suggesting for Arum to take the backseat in the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao negotiations to assure a seamless and friendlier discussions between the two camps. Pacquiao remains one of the top boxers under the Arum’s Top Rank Promotions and is under contract with the boxing outfit until 2016 after renewing their ties in mid-2014.

In the same Thompson report, the writer explained that the Pacquiao team member may have believed that the site’s apparent “close ties” with Mayweather could get them the chance to get an audience with Mayweather. Thompson even added that even Franklin Gacal, Pacquiao’s lawyer, tried to reach out to Fight Hype and to Alex Ariza, who was the former Strength and Conditioning coach of Pacquiao and has since joined the Mayweather camp.

There’s still no finalised deal for the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao super fight. If the reports are true that Arum and Koncz are the ones responsible for stalling the fight, then the said much-anticipated bout may never happen in 2015 or at all, as long as Pacquiao is under contract with Arum’s Top Rank Promotions.
