War movies will always be something that parents would think twice about letting their kids watch. But believe it or not, there are such films that fall under this genre which can be proven friendly for kids and tweens alike.

In fact, some of them can be even educational especially in terms of studying history.

One good example of this would be the 'Red Tails' that allows the younger audiences to have a closer look at the lives of African-American soldiers and how they have managed to survived not just the challenges of war, but also the adversities of racial discrimination.

This movie has been getting a lot of positive reviews, part of it probably because of having George Lucas as the executive producer. It is deemed to be made perfect for the teenager viewers to watch for its renders more of like the effects of 'Star Wars' made into a war film rather than imagining them to watch a younger version of 'Saving Private Ryan.'

'War Horse' is another tween-friendly war flick since it does not portray the usual traumas of war that can be too violent for young viewers.

The classic 'Saving Private Ryan' movie still deserves to be a part of the list of wholesome friendly war movies only if your high-schooler kid is already showing interest with the transitional scenes of the world's history.

It may not be as amazing as films like 'Flags of Our Fathers' by Clint Eastwood, but it still passes for your teenager's first ever war movie to analyse and watch. 'Pearl Harbor' can also work, especially since your teenage may already be in the romantic stages of starting to fall in love.
