"Hopefully there will be a positive out of it and that he will decide it's not the thing to do. I would be taking that as pretty bad karma," said Hamilton Senior Sergeant Freda Grace as quoted by the New Zealand Herald.

The screaming burglar aged 26, whose identity remained anonymous, who broke in a vacant Hamilton house on the morning of June 19, called the police after getting the shock of his life.

The neighbourhood of the Fairfield suburb where the house was located knew that there was something wrong going on. The screams they heard prompted them to call the police for what they believed to be cries for help due to domestic violence.

No charges were given to the arrested burglar and he is now free after helping the authorities with their inquiries.

The victim died hours before the break-in. If the burglar was not welcomed by the gruesome scene, discovery of the dead body may have taken days to come said the police.

The victim's age was not established.

No suspicions were made surrounding his death though.

The coroner has taken over the case.

The police however, cannot confirm whether or not his family already received the sad news.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time the anonymous burglar made an encounter with the police. The person has past records of run-ins. The authorities hope that this time, he finally learns his lessons.
