An announcement made allegedly by NASA that claims to shake the entire Earth on November 13 emerged to be a complete FAKE!

According to Openminds.tv, the fake NASA website whose name also appears on its domain name was disconnected from any site, link or logo that connects to NASA's Mars Rover Curiosity. Even if it was very obvious that the site is a hoax especially since it was just recent when the US government shutdown affected the US space agency, there were still a good number of people who got pretty excited with the idea of such an announcement.

When the site, RememberThe13th.com came up with a tiny button on Sunday where people can click to learn about the announcement, it became the source of dismay for those who hoped positively on it. It leads those who checked it out to a YouTube video that features the song 'Purple Ninja' by an artist named Beeki Vendi.

Such kind of internet schemes is not at all new but the real purpose behind its creation is still questionable. It could be that its creators want to collect a lot of views for the YouTube video. However there are some reports too that say the possible viruses that the site has. Another potential reason is that it was made just to garner a good number of email addresses for each of any visitor who dared click the button.

When it first went viral last week, the site was very simple in its looks and overall design allegedly leading to a discovery related to Mars. It was called Rememberthe13th since it originally says it will make its announcement on November 13.

The exact text announcement says:

"NASA has made a historic discovery that will shake the entire planet. This announcement will be released to the media on November 13th, 2013. It will be a day to remember and One for the history books. Spread the word to your family & friends and sign up to stay updated!"

When Oct 3 came, it mentioned that they will make the announcement at an earlier date which is Oct 6. The space design of the website can potentially clear your mind of doubts that it was not NASA who did it but it was just a cheap website theme called Caelus.

NASA may have genuinely done a lot of teasing announcements in the past but this FAKE Rememberthe13th website just proves we are all far from the discovery of extraterrestrial life in Mars.
