The 53rd edition of Miss International Beauty Pageant is the last international beauty contest of the year and that final event took place on Dec. 17 at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Hall, Tokyo, Japan. Miss Philippines Bea Rose Santiago was crowned as this year's winner by the 2008 title holder Alejandra Andreu of Spain.

The prestigious event was hosted by Japan for two consecutive year, Miss International 2012 Ikumi Yoshimatsu of Japan was stripped of her title and wasn't able to do her farewell walk due to her involvement in a scandal. The beauty queen was reportedly threatened by media executive Genichi Taniguchi for not signing on a talent agency which allegedly have ties to the Japanese Yakuza.

But even with that scandal, the show must go on and the event went on successfully as the 67 candidates from all corners of the world wowed the judges with National Costume, Swimsuit and Evening Gown. But at the end of the night, it only came down to 5 contestants who will answer one question for the final round of the program.

For this year's Question and Answer portion, the program committee only have one question for the Top 5 and they only have 30 seconds to answer it. Here's the transcript of the Miss International 2013 Q & A.

Question: What I would do if I become Miss International?

Philippines: The whole world saw how my country suffered. One by one, other countries helped. You have opened my heart and eyes on what we can do to help each other. I will work to sustain the spirit of sympathy and spirit of hope. As long as we work together, there is hope.

New Zealand: If I was to be the next Miss International 2013, there are many things I'd like to achieve. I would like to work with the young women of today's society. There are many ideologies of what you should be or shouldn't be, rather than embracing who they really are.

Netherlands: I'd be more than happy to give back. We should never stop caring. Eventually, we are one world, and one dream. Together, we are one.

Hungary: Good evening, everyone. I would like to thank the most important things that I get in this competition... I'm so happy that I'm here in this stage.

Colombia: I am very happy. Japan is a magnificent experience

After the deliberation, Miss Philippines Bea Rose Santiago was declared a winner with her heartfelt answer. Miss Netherlands Nathalie den Dekker was named first runner-up while Miss New Zealand Casey Radley was crowned second runner-up.
