The Minecraft Xbox 360 release date is one of the most anticipated events in the world of gaming. This is evident through the figures released stating that the game has already sold more than 1 million copies since it was released in the market last May 9, 2012.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition

4J Studios was the first one that developed Xbox Live Arcade and it was first released in alpha form last May 2009. After a year, the beta release which was Minecraft's official release (version 1.0) was made available to the public. The exact date for this release was last November, 2011.

The game was considered as a PC indie hit and it was officially released on Microsoft Xbox 360 as an Xbox Live Arcade last May 9, 2012. Microsoft released a press statement stating that the game has sold an impressive 1,000,000 copies under a week that it was released. Markus Persson (aka Notch), the developer behind Minecraft expressed his sentiment over the matter stating "Uhhhh, Microsoft just sent out a press release saying Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has sold a million copies in five days. Wow."

Minecraft: Xbox 360 is sold in the market for around US$20 or equivalent to 1600 Microsoft Points. This means that the 1 million units sold would be equivalent to around US$20 million in just five days that it was made available in the market.

Positive Reviews for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition

Aside from being a global hit, Minecraft Xbox 360 edition is also receiving positive reviews from critics. In fact, it has received 83 out of 100 score at Metacritic. Edwin Evans-Thirlwell of OXM UK revealed his own review of Minecraft stating that "The Xbox 360 port benefits from a generous tutorial mode - essentially a part-built playpen with all the main elements on show. This complements the cunning of Mojang's environment generator, which groups blocks and non-playable characters intuitively to create order amid chaos." He gave a perfect score for Minecraft which is 10 out of 10. He also praised the multiplayer feature of the game.

Another review from Daniel Bischoff of Games Revolutions gave Minecraft a score of 4 out of 5. He states that "I wasn't entirely sure Microsoft's bid for the exclusive release of Minecraft on Xbox 360 was the smartest business decision. [But] in the last few days, I've been sucked in, delighted, and genuinely scared by the fact that I missed this experience when it was still in beta. I'd say Minecraft on Xbox 360 works just fine."
