Jay and Gloria are in a festive mood in this week's episode of "Modern Family." Jay has a big "bark mitzvah" to attend for one of his dog Stella's friends while Gloria has a picnic with her Colombian friends who are celebrating getting their green cards. Neither one of them want to go to each other's event but Manny ended up making them both endure the parties.

Jay Pritchett is excited to take his dog Stella to a party that's being hosted by one of his friends form the dog park. The party was a lavish affair meant to be a "bark mitzvah" or a version of the traditional Jewish coming of age party but this time, converted for a dog instead of a teenage boy. Both Gloria and Manny were appalled by the craziness and extravagance shown for the dog as compared to some of the parties that they or their relatives have had to throw for their own milestones in life.

Gloria went with Jay anyway but when she got there, she didn't last very long and told Jay that she can't stand all the dog people and their craziness. Jay let her go home and when she did, Manny asked her what happened. When Gloria explained, Manny convinced her that she should make an effort to connect more with her husband and appreciate how he is going out of his way to connect with her by doing the things that she is interested in. Gloria felt guilty about walking out on Jay considering how enthusiastic he was about the Colombian picnic that they were going to the next day. She decided to go back to the party to show Jay her support and even brought Manny and Joe with her.

When they arrived, Jay acted happy but then he asked Manny what happened and why was Gloria back. When Manny told Jay how he convinced her, Jay wasn't grateful but was the exact opposite. He said that he was planning on using Gloria's actions to bail himself out of the Colombian picnic himself. Manny said Jay should have told him that he had a plan but Jay knew that it was too late.

The next day, Jay was trapped into going to Gloria's Colombian party and as they were about to leave, he figured out that Manny had manipulated both of them into leaving the house with Joe so that he could have the big TV all to himself. This way, he had neither Jay watching sports nor Joe insisting on watching his kids' shows. Jay recognised that Manny outsmarted them all but he left the house anyway knowing there was nothing he can do. Over at the Delgado and Pritchett household, it was Manny who emerged the victor in this week's "Modern Family."
