Southeast Queensland is currently experiencing a heavy rainfall that triggered the possibility of a cyclone. Brett Dutschke, a weatherzone meteorologist, said a cyclone could develop from the low pressure system going on in Queensland.

The heavy rain created a flood which caused the death of a man, whose body was found after two cars were swept away. Authorities found the body in a flooded vehicle dragged toward Arborten Road close to Glenwood around 7 a.m.

They continued the search until they discovered another car trapped within trees in the same location, but the driver was missing. Rescuers will keep on searching until the other body will be seen.

On the south of Maryborough, two people were rescued, a 65-year-old man and his 26-year-old son. They were stranded and decided to stay on top of the car to avoid the rising floodwater.

The emergency coordination center was alerted last night according to the Sunshine Coast Disaster Management Group. Mel Churchill, spokesman of the Fraser Coast emergency services, said several trees and powerlines were down due to the weather. The worst thing is that the rain still continues up to now. This could mean more damages on properties and in the lives of people.

The weather bureau said 300 millimeters of rain will pour on the Tiaro region, north of Glenwood. Police have right away blocked the Bruce Highway between Maryborough and Tiaro. Robert Sharp, another weatherzone meteorologist, said rain will continue until Wednesday. However, the strongest fall is today.

People were advised by the Emergency Management Queensland to avoid driving or riding through flood waters. They were also asked not to walk to avoid accidents.
