Netflix confirmed that “Making a Murderer” will be back for a second season. The makers of the show are already working on new episodes that will have crucial details connecting the new season to the pilot season. The release date has not been publicly revealed at the moment.

Back in July 2016, showrunners Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi said that they were very excited to make a new season since it would coincide with the appeal made by Kathleen Zellner, lawyer of the defendant.

"Making A Murderer" season 2 will focus more on the development of the case of convicted Steven Avery and nephew Brendan Dassey, who were allegedly involved with the killing and rape of Teresa Halbach in 2005. Zellner, Avery’s lawyer, promised to bring new suspects and forensic evidences that would finally release the convicted.

When the show started to air, there were only a small number of people who paid attention to it. But after it was made into a docuseries, the viewers get hooked and they were more involved with what would happen in the episodes to come. As of this year, it has been reported that there are about 25 million viewers watching the said show. One of the involvements made by fans of the show was when they signed a petition requesting the court to pardon Avery and Dassey.

Viewers can expect that the new season will focus on the evidence presented by the Attorney General's Office's approval. Netflix revealed that season 2 will take an in-depth look at the post-conviction process.

Recently, the state attorneys filed an appeal stating that Dassey's confessions to the detectives are true and voluntary. On Zellner’s website, he posted that the "Making a Murderer" season 2 release date is set to concur with the said appeal.

“Making a Murderer” is available for streaming on Netflix Australia.
