"Machete Kills" set to release on Oct. 11, Danny Trejo (in the title role), Jessica Alba, Tom Savini and Michelle Rodriguez will be reprising their roles from the first film.

"Machete Kills" will be the third movie based on "Grindhouse" fake trailers; the first were "Machete" and "Hobo with a Shotgun." Danny Trejo returns as ex- Mexican Police detective-turned-spy Machete, who is hired by U.S. President Rathcock (played by Charlie Sheen) to stop madman revolutionary Mendez (played by Demián Bichir) from launching a lethal missile intended at Washington, D.C.

Machete shortly came to know that the real hazard is an international criminal organization led by Luther Voz (bizarre billionaire arms dealing terrorist played by Mel Gibson), who has launched a conspiracy to start riots around the globe.

"Machete Kills" is produced, written and directed by Robert Rodriguez. Lindsay Lohan, will not appear in this sequel (Lilo played April Booth in the first film). Rodriguez allegedly said that he liked Lohan's character but she "didn't fit into the story."

Charlie Sheen was credited under his birth name Carlos Estévez in the movie. Due to the film's Hispanic theme, it was Sheen's idea to use his birth name for the film. The trailer for the film has "and introducing..." tag when showing Sheen's birth name.
