Logitech announced a new name for its brand called “Logi” on July 8, which will be seen with a new logo with bold colours. The company calls this move as its “biggest brand transformation” in its history, according to reports.

The company has been working on its brand change initiative for a while now and the company says that, it is now showing off its work. “Meet the new Logitech, a company you know and trust, but now with a colorful new attitude and re-imagined logo you’ll love. And, meet Logi – our new label,” Logitech said through its official blog post.

The company says, it is still committed to excel in peripherals segment and at the same time, it will focus on design. Logi is all set to hire its first ever Chief Design Officer, Alastair Curtis and it says, “We’ve put design at the core of everything we do and everything we are, from our products to our brand identity.”

The new Logi label will appear on the company’s newest product categories and the company aims at getting its customers acquainted with the new brand name on its website, social media channels, on packaging and in-store displays over the coming year, says Logitech.

According to a report on Tech Times, despite the company announcing its new brand name, it will continue being called “Logitech” for now.

Companies often eliminate descriptors from their brand names, reports Today Online. “Companies, when they start out, find comfort in a descriptive word,” the report on Today Online quoted naming consultant Anthony Shore of Operative Words, as saying. As per Shore, the descriptors become obsolete as the companies “grow, evolve and diversify.”

However, it is still unclear, which new products will be a part of the new Logi brand, according to the Tech Times report.
