Sacked forward Brendan Fevola has finalized a deal with the Brisbane Lions and in principle, has agreed to play with Casey Scorpions at this year’s VFL.

According to The Age, it is estimated that the Lions had paid troubled Fevola over a million dollars since the club is supposed to pay the forward more than $1.5 million in the next two years. The terms of the agreement is confidential however, added The Age.

Now in Melbourne, Fevola is set to begin training with Casey, according to his manager, Peter Blucher. The Age noted that Casey is a VFL affiliate of Melbourne’s and Fevola is expected to sign a contract with Casey Scorpions.

"We're committed, all things being equal, to Casey," said Peter Blutcher, according to the Age, adding that Fevola will just go on a short holiday and will resume with Casey when he returns.

Fevola is still undergoing treatment for depression and addictions to alcohol and gambling. His manager asserted however that the embattled footballer will be looking for a place in Melbourne and play football for the VFL club.

The Age said that Frankston and Port Melbourne have earlier expressed their willingness to work with Fevola and to have the former Coleman medalist in their 2011 line-ups.

The board officials of the Brisbane Lions decided to throw out the forward footballer following his scandalous arrest on New Year’s eve. His termination from the club according to The Age is based on the grounds that Fevola had “engaged in serious or willful misconduct through persistent breaches of his obligations as a player to the club.

"The club has therefore lost confidence in his ability to meet his obligations as a player due to these persistent breaches,’’ the Lions official was quoted by The Age as saying.
