Whatever success she is enjoying in the fashion industry, Jessica Simpson owes it to a pair of Daisy Duke boots.

Jessica spoke to Huffington post during the Footwear News Achievement Award last Tuesday. Along with Vince Camuto, licenser of the Jessica Simpson Collection since 2005, Jessica was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award that night. They reminisced on the shoe that started Jessica's success in the fashion industry.

'We started with little Daisy Duke boots,' says Vince to which Jessica chimed in with, 'Yeah, those boots! That's what we started with and they took off and everyone responded.'

Jessica was talking about the mid-calf cowboy boots inspired by Daisy Duke, a character in Dukes of Hazzard. Simpson had played the role in its revival back in 2005.

Indeed, the business that started out with boots in collaboration with Vince became a multi-million fashion enterprise -- $750 million as of 2010 and one billion as of last year. Simply put, according to the New York Magazine, 'Jessica Simpson is doing roughly the same volume in sales as Michael Kors.'

With her shoes and apparel being stocked in department stores across America and her sister Ashlee appearing in its ads, the Jessica Simpson brand has gained mass appeal, which is the founding principle of the brand.

'I think it's just an all-American brand that really all different kinds of women across America can and the world can wear. We give you everything, and it's not just limited to one certain fashionista,' shares Jessica.

'We want to represent all women. They come in all different shapes, all different sizes, all different personalities,' adds Vince.

'And different pocketbooks!' concludes Jessica.
