The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto is seen on the cover of Candy magazine dressed as a woman with pink hair, red lipstick and false eyelashes. He is likewise set to grace the theatre screens via The Dallas Buyer's Club where he took on the role of an AIDS-inflicted transsexual.

Leto made an effort to effect a visible physical transformation for his role in the movie. Just like co-star Matthew McConaughey, he shed off considerable weight to play the part.

He spoke to Vulture last year and part of his revelations regarding the changes in his body is this:

"Sometimes it's hard to hold on to water. But for me, it's not about the most weight I can lose, it's more to represent the character. I'm focused on what it means to be a transsexual woman."

Leto even plucked his eyebrows and waxed his legs as part of his preparations for the portrayal.

"Ladies, I feel your pain. What I have learned today: Beauty is pain. Wax on wax off," he once tweeted.

The rocker donned high heels and fishnet stockings in the film.

The Dallas Buyer's Club which also stars Jennifer Garner, was loosely patterned after the life story of Ron Woodroof, a homophobic man with AIDS who was left with just one more month to live, according to its official page.

Ron's character, played by McConaughey, experimented and smuggled drugs and shared what he knows about them with the other patients.

Directed by Jean-Marc Vallee, the film is scheduled to be shown on December 6.
