Actor Ian Somerhalder is not afraid to express what he thinks or feels on social media site Twitter especially when it comes to environmental causes and animal rights. On Tuesday, June 17, the 35-year-old "Vampire Diaries" actor started to post about the elephant poaching report in Africa and he sounded angry and bothered with the issue.

In Ian's series of tweets, the messages were capitalized for emphasis and there were a lot of exclamation points and swearing to make people aware that he is against poaching. "YOUNG PEOPLE! TELL YOUR PARENTS THIS IS BULLS-T! A MAGNIFICENT CREATURE KILLED?! FOR WHAT?! RIP YOU AMAZING CREATURE!!" Somerhalder posted on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder with the link to the CNN report.

According to the shared CNN report, a 45-year-old elephant named Satao was killed with poison arrows for his large tusks. The issue obviously affected Ian Somehalder since the founder of the Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF) has a page on their official Web site dedicated in raising awareness on the dangers of ivory trade.

"According to observations, healthy adult elephants have no natural predators, although lions may take calves or weak individuals. They are, however, threatened by human intrusion and poaching. The threat to the African elephant presented by the ivory trade is unique to the species. A bill has been created in efforts to protect the African Elephant as well as the Rhinoceros, Tiger, and Asian Elephant. To learn more about the bill, please visit here: www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h112-50. Please circulate the information and call your elected officials to see how they can help pass this law and make it a reality to SAVE the elephants!" the ISF Web page post on "Killing for Tusks" read.

After expressing anger on the issue, Ian Somerhalder used the social media site to encourage his followers in spreading the news about elephant poaching and start doing something about it. "PLEASE ISF FAMILY,PEOPLE with COMPASSION AND RESPECT FOR LIFE-PLEASE RETWEET THESE ELEPHANT MESSAGES I JUST TWEETED!PLEASE-this has to stop. LETS STOP TALKING ABOUT AFRICAN POACHING AND FRICKING DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!! Love you all!!!!" Ian shared to his 5.04 million Twitter followers.

Ian Somerhalder has also tweeted about returning to Atlanta after spending two months travelling to promote "The Vampire Diaries," his other TV, film or advertising projects and his activist work. The shared Instagram image showed the heartthrob actor is tired, flattened and jet lagged from the worldwide travelling so he is motionless and staring blankly at the ceiling of his Atlanta office. However, Ian's tweet revealed that he has no time to rest because he has to prepare for another congressional testimony in Washington for the international species conservation.
