The much anticipated HTC One M9 codenamed as Hima has not been unveiled yet. HTC has announced the entry level HTC Desire 320 and the budget smartphone, the HTC Desire 826 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 so far. In the recent past, new leaked photos of the handset have appeared along with specs through AnTuTu benchmarks. Fresh speculations claims that HTC Hima will be powered by MediaTek SoC.

G for Games states that according to Chinese media, the HTC One M9 with Snapdragon 810 chipset will be available in all countries except China. However, in China, the handset is rumoured to be powered by a MediaTek SoC.

In 2014, HTC had launched two variants of HTC Desire 820. The Desire 820 was powered by Snapdragon 615 chipset whereas the Desire 820s was powered by 64-bit octa-core MTK6752 chipset. Since HTC has used Snapdragon chipset as well MediaTek chipset in the past, speculations are rife that it may adopt the same strategy for the HTC One M8 successor.

During the production phase of Snapdragon 810 SoC, there were reports that revealed that the chipset was marred with overheating problems, adds G for Games. However, the issue was resolved soon by Qualcomm. Compared to Snadragon SoCs, the MediaTek chipsets are cheaper because of which HTC may target HTC One M9 with MediaTek SoC towards Asian markets. As of this writing, HTC has not confirmed anything on the HTC One M9 specifications and features.

HTC has already launched two handsets at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 so far. Load The Game and various tech sites are of the view that the Taiwanese tech giant will not unveil the HTC One M8 successor at the CES event because if the company was supposed to launch the flagship smartphone during CES, by now it would have sent invitations to the media and public. Rumours have it that the HTC One M9 will get unveiled through an exclusive event during the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 event.
