"How I Met Your Mother" Season 9 has just aired its Nov. 18 episode, "Mom and Dad." It's Saturday, 3PM, 27 hours before the wedding. No Cristin Milioti, no big surprise - only big disappointment. Fans still don't know how the Pineapple Incident developed beyond what Ted Mosby could remember in HIMYM Season 1. Meanwhile, in real life, plans are in motion for the HIMYM spin-off, "How I Met Your Dad."

Spoiler alert: Minor spoilers included for those who have not seen "How I Met Your Mother" Season 9, Episode 10, "Mom and Dad."

HIMYM Spin-Off: 'How I Met Your Dad' in 3 Details

Here are three important details about the new CBS comedy from the makers of "How I Met Your Mother," Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.

1. "Up All Night" creator Emily Spivey is working with Bays and Thomas in cooking up the HIMYD story.

2. Like HIMYM, the spin-off will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television and will be carried by CBS.

3. HIMYD characters will not be in the "How I Met Your Mother" Season 9 finale, which is also the comedy series finale. Initial rumours said the HIMYM finale will be a backdoor to the spin-off, but Carter Bays himself denied this on Twitter.

Also #HIMYD probably won't be set in Maclarens -- new bar for a new show. And likewise the characters won't be introduced on #HIMYM .

— Carter Bays (@CarterBays) November 16, 2013

"Our hope is that #HIMYD becomes its own magical wonderful weird thing, and the two shows stand on their own side by side," Bays tweeted. The news of a "How I Met Your Mother" spin-off drew mixed reactions. Some are saying nine years of the same comedy treatment is enough. Others welcome the news gladly. This Twitter user has a particular HIMYM-related suggestion:

@CarterBays A show about Victoria would be pretty awesome. #JustSayin — Dave Myers (@TheDaveMyers) November 16, 2013

Quick Recap and Review: HIMYM 9x10 'Mom and Dad'

"How I Met Your Mother" Season 9, Episode 10, "Mom and Dad" is one of the episodes that many fans call a space filler. It exposes how Barney and James feel about their mom and their dads. It shows Ted in yet another silly detective mission. And it shows how Marshall and Daphne finally ended their road trip. Overall, many fans would find it an easy-to-dismiss the episode, except for a certain pineapple ingredient.

The best part of HIMYM 9x10 is a bit of "Pineapple Incident" memory albeit that took only a few seconds of airtime. It also proves that Ted Mosby has nothing to brag about when it comes to being a detective. Still, HIMYM fans are hoping there will be an answer to the pineapple story, even if Ted already said he and the gang never found out how the tropical fruit got to his room.

"How I Met Your Mother" Season 9, Episode 10, "Mom and Dad" is the Nov. 18 on CBS. Australian viewers watch the HIMYM final season - fast track - on Seven. There are at least two much-anticipated HIMYM episodes this season aside from the big finale. One is "Bass Player Wanted" (Dec. 2 on CBS) and the other is "How Your Mother Met Me" (Jan. 27). So far, viewers have learned how Cristin Milioti's mother character met Barney and Lily.
