Fans of Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill will be ecstatic to know that the superhero will once more don his Superman costume in a new movie that will include the caped crusader, Batman.

Warner Movies announced on Saturday at the Comic-Con that Cavill will reprise his Superman role - still without the red trunks worn by previous Superman actors - for the forthcoming movie slated for showing in 2015.

The much anticipated movie will still tap the directorial talent of Zack Synder, who megged Man of Steel. However, Synder said while Cavill is surely Superman again, there is no casting yet for the role of Batman.

It will be the first pairing of the two superheroes in one movie, which would likely be another monster hit.

Synder said the script is already being written, but he declined to provide more details of the new movie.

"There's been a lot of speculation about what we're doing. It is official that we are going to make another Superman movie. You guys may ask what is the movie about. The truth is you don't want me to tell you what the movie is about, right?," the director was quoted by The Independent.

Synder assured movie goers the movie will not be adapted from Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. He said production will begin in 2014 with a target summer 2015 release date.

With the actor for Superman established, the question now that many fans would want to know is who will play Batman?

Here's a quick look at the previous Batman movie and TV actors

  • Christian Bale - Starred in the 2005 movie Batman Begins. The producers picked Bale because he exuded a balance of darkness and light they were looking for in an actor.

  • George Clooney - Played the role of Batman in the 1997 film Batman & Robin, but the movie is considered a disaster because of its homoeroticism, campy style and the notorious Bat nipples.

  • Val Kilmer - He was cast in the 1995 movie Batman Forever, but his performance got mixed reviews.

  • Michael Keaton - The actor starred in the 1989 Batman movie, but his casting alone generated 50,000 protest letters sent to Warner Bros.

  • Adam West - He is more known as the TV Batman, who had his cape clipped in 1968 when the show went off air. In 1977, West was the voice of Batman in the new programme The New Adventures of Batman.

  • Robert Lowery - Robert starred in the 1949 Batman and Robin movie. He played the same role in a TV episode in 1956 of The Adventures of Superman.

  • Lewis Wilson - He is the first and youngest actor to play the role of Batman at 23 in the 15-part 1943 Colombia serial Batman.

So, who do you think is the best actor to play Batman for the 2015 film with Superman? Of course, some of the previous Batman actors may be six feet under the ground or too old to portray the role.

Perhaps a review of past Batman movies would help.
