Android L is dubbed as the name of next Android mobile operating system that will come to replace the Android Kitkat. Google had first unveiled the Android L OS during the Google I/O event that was held last June 25.

Google has the habit of launching the new version of Android OS through new Nexus devices. Since the rumours of Nexus 6 are rife and its unveil is just around the corner, most people who are waiting for Android L OS feel that new build will arrive preloaded on the Nexus 6.

According to PhoneArena, the new Material Design will arrive for the very first time on Android L OS. Since the beta version of Android L was already revealed to the people, one can easily expect what the new Android L OS will bring along.

The alphabet 'L' in Android L is being referred with different names like:

  • Lady fingers
  • Lollipop
  • Lion
  • Lava cake
  • Lemonade
  • Lemon meringue pie

Among the six, what would be your answer? PhoneArena had conducted a poll to see what people thought about the 'L' in Android L. The poll report shows that 55 percent of the audience feels like Lollipop is the name of the latest OS.

The second spot is held on my Lemon Meringue Pie with a score of slightly more than 15 percent. The third position goes to Android Lion with 12.71 percent votes. Names like Lady fingers and Lava cake received very less number votes and hence they do not seem to be any strong contender.

Before the Sept 4 IFA event unveil of Vibe X2, Lenovo had sent invitations to the media that featured an image of a big lollipop with Vibe X2 written in its middle area gave an indication that the alphabet L in Android L stands for Lollipop and not Lemon Meringue Pie.

Sammobile has released a preview video of Android L on Samsung Galaxy S5. According to PhoneArena, the Android L shown in the video is nothing but Android Lollipop.
