In February 2016, Marvel Studios is poised to start filming “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” by James Gunn. The writer and director shared some details about the story and characters, particularly new faces and those who will not be returning in the sequel.

Gunn engaged in a discussion with fans on Twitter at the start of September regarding “Guardians of the Galaxy 2.” When asked how many new characters will be shown, the writer answered that there will not be too many for certain. He reportedly wanted all of the characters to get more personal time than they did in the first movie.

The writer previously confirmed that Captain Marvel will not be in the second movie, explaining that it is important that Quill will be the only human character at the moment. However, there is a possibility that Carol Danvers’ character will make an appearance before her standalone film in 2018, Screen Rant writes.

Gunn also confirmed that there will be no Hulk in “Guardians of the Galaxy 2.” “I will comment on it now (as I’ve done before) – there is zero chance you will see Hulk in GotGVol2,” he tweeted.

He also mentioned that it is likely that the sequel will feature more female characters, since it has been one of his goals to have more female heroes and villains present.

Screen Rant also reports that Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Nebula (Karen Gillan) and all the core characters from the first movie will return, namely Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Michael Rooker (Yondu Udonta) Sean Gunn (Kraglin/ On Set Rocket Raccoon) and the voices of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper. Gunn also confirmed that there will be one new Guardian. Fans also speculated that Adam Warlock might appear, considering how there were rumours of a potential enemy for “Avengers: Infinity War.”

“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” is set for release on May 5, 2017. More news and updates on the sequel are expected soon.
