George Clooney made one of the most powerful Golden Globes Speech to date. The 53-year-old actor managed to express his love for wife Amal Alamuddin, praise his co-actors and lend support to the "Je Suis Charlie" campaign in his lifetime achievement award speech.

The 72nd Annual Golden Globes featured many funny jokes from Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, but it ended in a standing ovation for George Clooney's beautiful life achievement award speech. Tina Fey has a theory as to why George would receive such an award. She jokingly said that it is all because of his wife Amal Alamuddin and her connections and position in the UN commission "investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza strip." However, maybe Tina's joke is not that far off the mark after all, because later in the evening, George Clooney would offer up his Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement to his wife.

Wearing a "Je Suis Charlie" button on his tuxedo to show his support for the gunned down crusaders at Charlie Hebdo, Daily Beast reports that George Clooney's lifetime achievement award speech is both hearthwarming and powerful. The actor began his speech with a joke about the Sony hack. George said that after all the leaked emails and interesting tidbits suddenly out in the public about several celebrities, the awards show is a good chance for them to "apologise for all the snarky things we've said about each other." George then proceeded to complement everyone in the room, winners or not. For him, it is a blessing to even be in the room so there is no reason to think or feel bad about "losing." "You get to do what you've always dreamed to do and be celebrated for it, and that just... it ain't losing," he said. He also took time to repeat some of Robin Williams' inspirational words, citing again, how ridiculous it is to focus on the awards and the trophies alone.

On the finale of his speech, the legendary actor, filmmaker and humanitarian also devoted some of his minutes to lauding and praising destiny for bringing him and his wife, Amal Alamuddin together, saying his year is good because of her. "Listen: It's a humbling thing when you find someone to love-even better when you've been waiting your whole life. And when your whole life is 53 years, Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn't be more proud to be your husband."

Lastly, the actor also managed to again reiterate that that the day is extraordinary for everyone around the world, not just for them. Not only are people marching in Paris in reaction to the Charlie Hebdo shootings, but people around the world, from Christians, Jews and Muslims to all sorts of leaders, who are soldiery in their support for the "idea that we will not walk in fear." The 2015 Golden Globe audience cheered and gave Clooney a standing oviation upon hearing this.
