There are many moving parts and storylines to keep track of in “Game of Thrones,” but the one storyline that the fans may not get to see play out is that of the Iron Bank. The financers from Braavos had a hand in many, if not all, wars in Westeros, and it now appears that they will be sitting out of this final war against the Night King.

There have been many theories about the Iron Bank. Fans have been trying to connect them to the wars in Westeros, Arya Stark (Masie Williams), and even the White Walkers. Sadly, these theories will only continue, as the show may not have any time for the Braavosi.

Tycho Nestoris (Mark Gatiss) is the figurehead of the Iron Bank, and this major character will be missing in the next season. In a recent interview with ShortList, the actor confirmed that he is not in “Game of Thrones” season 8, but added that his character’s name could be mentioned on the show to explain what’s happening in Braavos.

“I’m not in it, so I guess I survive. Although they might just mention offhand that I’ve had my head bitten off by a dragon off-screen or something,” Gatiss said.

The Iron Bank has agreed to finance Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) in her war against Daenerys (Emilia Clarke). Although the bank has a reputation for backing the right contenders for the Iron Throne, it has also made some bad investments, like their investment in Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane). It remains to be seen if their investment in Cersei will be profitable.

Filming of “Game of Thrones” season 8 has been completed. There are just six episodes in the final season. The show is set to air in 2019. The producers are yet to announce an exact release date.
