Isaac Hempstead Wright teased some details about his character Bran in “Game of Thrones” season 7 in a recent interview. He talked about the challenges his character will face this year, and how the Stark boy has transcended growing up. Meanwhile, there will be a new “professor” character introduced on the show. The following article contains minor spoilers.

Bran has huge responsibility on his shoulders. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Wright said that his character will begin the next season not sure of what to do. He is “in the middle of nowhere” with Meera (Ellie Kendrick), and things are “not looking great” for him.

Some of the questions that Bran will struggle with are what he will do next? Should he cross the Wall? And should he tell Jon (Kit Harington) about his true identity? Readers should note that the Night’s King has left his mark on Wright’s character, so he could compromise the security of Westeros if he crosses over from the North.

When asked to tease “Game of Thrones” season 7 with one word, Wright said “connections.” The actor did not elaborate on this point, and did not confirm if he meant connections of the Stark family. “Take that how you will,” the actor remarked.

Bran did not get a typical childhood. Wright explained that his character has transcended growing up. He has nothing to prove to anybody. He only knows the things that need to be done, and how the fate of humanity rests on his shoulders.

Meanwhile, cast member Jim Broadbent teased some details about his role in the next season while speaking with Screen Crush. The actor described his character to be like that of a “professor” and revealed it to be an archmaester. He will be seen in five episodes, and has apparently filmed one major scene in each.

Broadbent confirmed that he has worked with John Bradley (Sam Tarly). While this may seem like a spoiler-free tease, fans of “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series by George R. R. Martin may recognise this character to be Maester Marwyn. The HBO TV series is based on this book series, but some of the names of the characters have been changed, and there have been other tweaks while adapting the source material for the show.

Sam travelled to Oldtown in the previous season and is expected to begin his training as a maester in “Game of Thrones” season 7. Marwyn in the books is an archmaester of the Citadel.
