Warner Bros. Pictures has released the official teaser trailer of the upcoming film “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”

The new film is set in the “Harry Potter universe,” several decades before Voldemort and Harry crossed paths. The movie is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the “Harry Potter” films. Instead, it follows the story of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), the author of Harry’s book about magical creatures used in the films of the “Harry Potter” series.

In “Fantastic Beasts,” Scamander travels to New York for a conference where he accidentally releases the magical creatures inside his suitcase. In the process, he will meet a No-maj (American term for Muggle) named Jacob that could spell trouble for wizards and non-magic folks.

In an interview with We Got This Covered, Redmayne revealed his research process for the role that involved a one-on-one prep with author J.K. Rowling.

“When I was prepping, I met J.K. Rowling and what’s so amazing is that her imagination is so full and thorough–it’s so encyclopaedic of her world. We had an hour together and I sort of asked her about 800 questions, so that was a lot of my wonderful research,” he said.

“Fantastic Beasts” marks J.K. Rowling’s debut in writing screenplays while four-time “Harry Potter” director David Yates will be at the helm of the film alongside producers David Heyman, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram.

The upcoming film have a stellar ensemble that includes Colin Farrell as Percival Graves, Samantha Morton as Mary Lou, Carmen Ejogo as Seraphina, Jenn Murray as Chastity, Ezra Miller as Credence, Ron Perlman as Gnarlack, John Voight as Henry Shaw, Sr. and Faith Wood-Bladgrove as Modesty.

In 2001, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” was released as a book to raise funds for British charity, Comic Relief. The film is slated for release on November 18, 2016.
