Ed Sheeran’s new lion tattoo managed to grab the headlines on Wednesday after the singer shared a photo of the design on his Instagram page. Compliments and criticisms were shared about the massive design inked on his chest. However, Sheeran thought all the talk about his new tattoo is overrated, he recently shared his opinion on Twitter.

Sheeran shared a couple of tweets to let people know that they can say whatever they want about his new tattoo. The only thing that reportedly matters to him is that he likes it.

"All this kerfuffle over a tattoo. If it was black and white saying a clever phrase in a language I can't speak no one would've said anything," he said in his first tweet. "It's not the first weird tattoo I've got and it won't be the last, but I like all of them," Sheeran said in his second tweet.

The 24-year-old shared a photo of his new tattoo on his Instagram page on Tuesday and it has since gained over 452 likes as of this writing. It also now has over 30,000 comments from users expressing their compliments, confusion and some dislike over the huge design.

Mirror UK reports that Sheeran stunned his fans when he unveiled the massive lion design inked on the centre of his chest. However, tattoo artist Kevin Paul told The Sun that fans should get used to seeing the singer occasionally get inked from now on as Sheeran plans to cover his entire body with tattoos.

“Ed is nowhere near done. There are going to be even bigger tattoos in the next few months,” he said.

Paul, whose other celebrity clients include Harry Styles and Paddy Considine, said Sheeran wants to have his upper torso covered with tattoos. The singer reportedly wants “his entire back covered, and then across his ribs.” However, Mirror UK claims Sheeran wants to leave his face, hands and neck free of tattoos.

Paul also revealed the painful ordeal that the singer had to go through to get the new lion tattoo inked on his chest. The design is reportedly still halfway done. E Online reports that the tattoo took six hours to do but it still needs an additional six hours to be fully complete.

Sheeran is no stranger to tattoos since he has some on his arms, so he already knows how to handle the pain that comes with the process. However, Paul said the huge lion design gave the singer “some discomfort” as the chest is a painful area of the body to have a tattoo.

“Through the last hour on this piece you could see the pain started to get to him,” Paul revealed.

Sheeran's tattoo is believed to be a tribute to Cecil the lion, who was killed by dentist Walter Palmer during a safari hunt. Metro says the black mane around the singer's tattoo resembles Cecil's mane, as seen in this photo .
