It looks like 2017 is going to be one big year for fans of “EastEnders” as the show sets up a lot of dense plot lines that would ripen later on. While fans were devastated (and satisfied) with the drama that they witnessed recently, spoilers reveal that there is a lot more coming.

Spoiler alert! This article contains “EastEnders” spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens next before the next episode airs.

On the January 5 episode of “EastEnders,” Babe Smith (Annette Badland) will ruffle some feathers. Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) will get stunned by Denise Fox’s (Diane Parish) latest revelation. Dot Cotton (June Brown) will offer some wisdom and comfort. Lauren Branning (Madeline Duggan) will do her best to ease the tension in the family.

Denise is pregnant after a one-night-stand with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). He still has no idea that he is the father of her child, but it looks like things are going to be different soon as they start preparing for the baby shower. As for Babe, it looks like he is going to cause more trouble in the show.

In the previous episode, fans sobbed as Jack Branning received awful news about his new wife Ronnie and her sister Roxie dying together in a pool, writes Mirror. While this was devastating, viewers praised Scott Malsen, who plays Jack on the show, for his superb acting skills. Many even admitted that they shed a few tears while watching the tragic scenes.

Max was the first to know that Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) and Roxie Mitchell (Rita Simons) had died together in the hotel swimming pool where they went after they were wed. When he went to the lobby, he found police briefing the hotel staff. When he asked what had happened, the police officer in charge pulled out her phone and asked Max to identify his sister in law by showing him pictures of her.

While fans might already consider this episode to be heartbreaking, there were more devastating moments because an alternate ending was aired on the show’s official Snapchat channel. In this alternate ending, instead of Ronnie and Roxie dying together in a pool, Ronnie was seen in tears at a hospital before Roxy is shown lying motionless on a snooker table. It appears that Roxy had been struggling with drugs and had died of an overdose.

How the TV ending and the alternate scenes will be used could reflect on the next episode of “EastEnders.” The show will air on January 5 8 p.m. on the BBC.
