NSW and Queensland police busted separate drug rings on Tuesday morning arresting eight people and seizing heroin, cocaine and cannabis from raided homes.

Queensland police raided homes at Southport, Nerang, Carrara, Gilston and Woodridge, all suburbs of Gold Coast, seizing heroin, cocaine and cannabis. The operation also led to the arrest of eight people, who were charged with trafficking, supply and possession of dangerous drugs.

The continuing operation will significantly curb the supply of illegal drugs in the southeastern region, AAP quoted Detective Inspector Tim Trezise as saying.

Meanwhile, in Glenn Innes, police found nearly 600 marijuana plants at a property along Old Grafton Road. The plants have an estimated street value of $1.8 million.

Police also found six grams of heroin and dried cannabis in sealed bags from the unoccupied home.

The marijuana plants, some of which are 1.4 metres tall, were ready for harvesting, New England crime manager Detective Inspector Greig Stier said, according to the Northern Daily Reader.
