The Click Frenzy online sale in Australia is making a comeback. Organisers assured Aussie consumers that the crash would not happen again.

The first Click Frenzy in November 2012 was organised by Melbourne businessman Grant Arnott, patterned after the Cyber Monday sales in the U.S. which gave shoppers 24 hours to get substantial discounts from major retailers.

Mr Arnott said the next Click Frenzy would be on April 23 as a run-up to Mother's Day celebration in Australian. He said in 2012, the Web site was not ready for a million customers. Having learned their lessons the hard way, Click Frenzy 2 is ready for three million online buyers, he said.

The Web site crash in the first Click Frenzy left about 1.7 million potential online buyers unable to log on or very slow Web site.

Mr Arnott said the retailers participating in the second Click Frenzy have invested in the world's best technological infrastructure to assure there won't be another portal crash.

However, Australian National Retail Association Chief Executive Officer Margy Osmond said some brands and retailers are wary of joining again because of the 2012 experience.

Among the stores that joined the first Click Frenzy were Myer, Dick Smith, Target, Bonds and Dell. Despite the Web site crash, many of them reported increased sales during the 24-hour event.

The second Click Frenzy is just the start of several online sale events that Mr Arnott has lined up for 2013. On June 25, there would be the End-of-Financial-Year sale, on Aug 13 the Father's Day Frenzy, a third Click Frenzy on Nov 19 and by the last week of November a week-long eCarnivale featuring independent Toy, Show, Fashion, Home, Entertainment and Health and Beauty Frenzies.
