The penultimate episode of “Castle” Season 7 is also the milestone episode of “Castle” Season 7. It is the 150 episode of the series. This episode 22, titled “Dead From New York,” will see Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) investigating the murder of Sid Ross, a powerful creator of a long-running sketch comedy show, “Saturday Night Tonight.”

The episode will see Canadian singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen making a musical guest appearance as herself. According to Entertainment Weekly’s report, she will be seen singing her new hit song “I Really Like You.” Not only that, she will speak a few lines, as well.

Jaleel White has also been cast to guest star in the penultimate episode. He is playing the character called Mickey Franks. TV Line’s report has revealed that White is playing “the larger-than-life star” of the sketch comedy show. This star has a “tendency toward outrageous -- and possibly homicidal -- behaviour.” The preview clip suggests that one of the special guest stars, including White and Jepsen, could be a suspect. Franks is seen saying in the preview that he did not kill.

And according to the official synopsis of episode 22, when Castle and Beckett delve into the life of Ross and the colourful world of “Saturday Night Tonight,” they end up discovering a “shocking secret that may explain his murder.”

Meanwhile, the final episode of “Castle” Season 7 will see Castle revisiting a terrifying event of his childhood. A murder in the woods will make him obsessed about the case as there is similarity between this case and the event that happened when he was 11-years-old. The episode will also reveal the reason behind Castle becoming a mystery writer. Also Beckett will be seen facing a crossroads in the final episode, wrestling with interesting career choices.

The penultimate episode is scheduled to air on May 04, while the final episode has booked its slot on May 11. There is still uncertainty surrounding “Castle” Season 8. Only Fillion has till now signed on a new, one year contract, while the rest of the cast members, including the newly-married Katic, continue to negotiate their new contracts.
