Carey Mulligan in Scene from 'Drive'

Mulligan plays a young mother named Irene who is taking care of his young son. Irene is married to an ex-convict who recently was discharged from the state penitentiary and makes friends with the Driver(Ryan Gosling).

Gosling agrees to help the convict by being the getaway driver to the heist that was planned. Afterwhich, the movie unfolds to be a violent yet engaging film.

Mulligan says after Wall Street; Money Never Sleeps and Never Let Me go, she decided to go on hiatus for a year until she saw Nicolas Winding Refn's film Valhalla Rising which left her speechless. She was in a stump, not knowing what to do with her career until she found out that Refn was doing 'Drive'.

Refn and Mulligan had met when Mulligan was promoting, her then film An Education, in Australia. When Refn got word that Mulligan was interested in doing the film she was cast for the part of Irene. Refn says, "Carey is a wonderful actress,". "To me she has all the charm and intelligence of a young Molly Ringwald." Truth be told, Mulligan is charming, intelligent and mature.

Next in line for Mulligan is a spot on the Film 'The Great Gatsby' co-starring Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio. She takes up the role of Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrman's film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel of the same title. Mulligan says she's never played a role much like the one of Daisy Buchanan before however the character intrigued her right away.

We'll surely be seeing more from this young actress in the years to come.
