The anime adaptation of “Final Fantasy XV” aired its second episode entitled “Dogged Runner” on June 14. The episode centers on the lead protagonist Prince Noctic Lucis Caelum and his friendship with his comrade, Prompto.

The episode began with the four main characters driving on the road after their encounter with The Empire, the opposing faction in the story. Ignis scolded Prompto for being inattentive. When the young blond suddenly put their car to a stop, the quartet discovered an injured puppy. While Prompto tended the creature, the scene cut to Noctis and Prompto’s year in middle school. Noctis, being a son of a royal family, was popular and highly recognized. Prompto, on the other hand, was a nobody.

It was revealed that Prompto had also found an injured dog when he was younger. However, the dog disappeared and ended up returning to its owner who was later revealed to be Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, a princess and Noctis’ childhood friend. Through a letter sent by Luna, Prompto worked hard to become someone worthy of standing beside the heir of the Caelum family. The flashback ended with Prompto finally confident enough to befriend the prince. Towards the end, the heroes continued their drive to Altissia.

“Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV” is an anime based on the events of the upcoming Square Enix roleplaying-game “Final Fantasy XV.” Similar to the game, the main protagonists are Noctis Lucis Caelum (portrayed by Tatsuhisa Suzuki and lead singer of the band OLDCODEX), Ignis Scientia (portrayed by Mamoru Miyano who also worked with Suzuki in “Free!” and “Prince of Stride”), Prompto Argentum (portrayed by Tetsuya Kakihara who is famous for his role as Natsu Dragneel from “Fairy Tail”) and Gladiolus Amicitia (portrayed by Kenta Miyake, a veteran voice actor). The game is set to release on September 2016.
