“Bones” Season 11, Episode 18 (“The Movie in the Making”) aired June 2 on Fox, honouring former cast members, including Zack Addy (Eric Millegan) from the show’s first three seasons. Deceased characters also got a shout-out: Lance Sweets (John Francis Daley) and Vincent Nigel-Murray (Ryan Cartwright).

Spoiler alert: This recap contains “Bones” Season 11 spoilers. This week’s new episode was written by Keith Foglesong and directed by Randy Zisk.

Bones 11x18 offers the viewers a different treatment of the show. It gets into documentary mode, which is a satisfying treat to longtime viewers of the series. Emily Deschanel’s Temperance Brennan and David Boreanaz’ Seeley Booth discuss their partnership, as well as their different approaches into solving crimes and raising their children.

Over 250 murder convictions, in Bones’ 230th episode

There have been over 250 murder convictions in the past decade, thanks to the partnership between the FBI and the Jeffersonian Institution’s Forensic Division, says the introduction of a documentary called “America in Profile,” hosted by Alex Duffy (portrayed by Jamie Gray Hyder of “Graceland” and “True Blood”). This is the opening act for “Bones” Season 11, Episode 18 a.k.a. Episode 230 of the Fox series.

The presentation of Bones 11x18 is fitting for a farewell set of episodes, but “Bones” Season 11 still has four episodes to go, and “Bones” Season 12” has been confirmed. So it makes for a good magnet for new viewers who have not discovered the crime-fighting series after over ten years now.

‘Bones’ Season 11, Episode 18: Christine Booth wants to be a car salesperson

Incidentally, at the time of “filming” for the documentary, Brennan gets invited to her daughter Christine’s (Sunnie Pelant) school to talk about her job as a forensic anthropologist. It is revealed that Brennan has been expecting Christine to take after her and follow a career in science. It turns out she wants to be a car salesperson. Booth said Sweets would want Brennan to express support for Christine’s dreams. She then adds, they still miss Sweets. This is one of the most tender moments of the episode.

The crime of the week involves a father (guest star Jack McGee) who had not seen his son in ten years, partly due to his gambling addiction. The squintern of the week is Arastoo Vaziri (Pej Vahdat), who gets a spontaneous, romantic, on-cam proposal from Camille Saroyan (Tamara Taylor) even as she had tried very hard to keep her personal life private during the documentary roll.

‘Bones’ Season 11, Episode 18: Cam and Vaziri get engaged

What do you want to be when you grow up? The “Bones” characters answer this question at the end of the episode. Vaziri says all he wants is to be husband and father. Cam is overwhelmed and bursts into an unexpected proposal. For the leading couple, Booth wants to give more than what he’s taken; Bones wants to be the mother of the best car salesperson.
