The official trailer of the comedy thriller “The Voices” has been released and it appears to have a plot similar to the 2000 film “American Psycho,” which starred Justin Theroux and Christian Bale, who played a seemingly nice bank executive with lethal fantasies.

As the two-minute trailer show, “The Voices” features Blake Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds playing a man hearing voices from a dog named Bosco, a cat named Mr. Whiskers and a bodiless human head. Written by Michael R. Perry, the story revolves around a likable goofball named Jerry Hickfang played by Reynolds.

After stopping to take his meds, Reynolds’ character turns into a murderer, who in his own mind thinks he does not have a choice. He brutally murders women at the command of Mr. Whiskers, which Bosco does not approve of. Reynolds also voiced both Mr. Whiskers and Bosco.

Joining Reynolds in “The Voices” cast are Anna Kendrick, Gemma Arterton, Jacki Weaver and Adi Shankar, among others. Also, Valerie Kock plays Reynolds’ mother in the film while Gulliver McGrath and Aaron Kissiov plays younger Reynolds as a child and as a teenager respectively.

Known for her 2008 Academy Awards’ Best Animated Feature Film of the Year nominee “Persepolis”, Marjane Satrapi directed the comedy thriller “The Voices,” which will have a limited release on Feb. 6. Watch the trailer here:
