It is almost like a new beginning for "The Blacklist," with the deaths of two major antagonists and a new day of airing. The mid-season finale episode of "The Blacklist" killed Berlin and Fitch and introduced a new puzzle, 'The Fulcrum'. Before the high-tech, collar bomb killed him, Fitch asked Red if he has 'The Fulcrum'. Red's silence indicated that he does not have it. The Super Bowl episode will take forward 'The Fulcrum' storyline.

"You will hear about 'The Fulcrum' in the Super Bowl episode," Jon Bokenkamp, creator of "The Blacklist," told TV Guide. "Red is assembling those clues and trying to figure what out Fitch was trying to warn him about. There's a ticking clock that underscores the back half of the season."

The Super Bowl episode is also set to introduce Ron Perlman as the new name on the blacklist. He is playing the character called Luther Braxton, the ruthless thief who meticulously plans to get the object he desires. Red will become Braxton's stumbling block and stop him from going after his next target. It is likely that 'The Fulcrum' is what he is seeking. TV Guide's report indicates that Red and Braxton's paths have crossed in the past and they have an acrimonious history. One of the earlier TV Guide's spoiler reports has indicated that Red would plot his own abduction to stay close to Braxton. And, one of his tricks is going to scare Liz.

Bokenkamp also revealed to TV Guide that the Super Bowl episode of "The Blacklist," which is episode 9, will be taking place in a black-site prison, which is called 'The Factory. According to the report, it is an "off-the-books interrogation facility in the Bering Sea."

The upcoming episodes of "The Blacklist" will also reveal some details about Tom and Red's past connection. The episode 8, "The Decembrist," hinted that Red and Tom knew each other and it was not only because Tom was once Liz's husband.

The upcoming episode 9 is the first part of the two-parter, which will conclude on Thursday, Feb. 05. Thereafter, "The Blacklist" Season 2 will occupy the Thursday night slot for its regular telecast.
