Zach McGowan and Jessica Parker Kennedy spoke about their characters in the TV show “Black Sails.” The actors play the roles of Captain Charles Vane and Max respectively in the TV series. The two characters are seen on the island of Nassau in the TV series.

Captain Charles Vane is a fierce pirate and Max controls a brothel in “Black Sails” Season 2. Zach McGowan and Jessica Parker Kennedy sat down with Collider to give their insights about the characters and talk about the TV show.

Talking about the massive changes that viewers are getting to see in “Black Sails” Season 2, Jessica said that her character “went through hell” in the previous season. But the new season sees the character creating a “powerhouse” by forming an alliance with Rackham and Anne Bonny. The alliance has also resulted in a love triangle and the actress also revealed that there is a lot of “sexual tension” between Max and Bonny.

Zach McGowan said that his character was at a “crossroads” in the season and he has to decide what is most dear to him. On the one side Charles Vane has his relationship with Eleanor and on the other side he has his obligation to his men as a pirate captain. The character may also help shape the future of Nassau and has to decide whether the island grows on its own or grows with connections to England.

The actors also spoke about the love their characters have for Eleanor. Both Charles Vane and Max have gotten intimate with Eleanor. Answering a question about the balance of power in the relationship, Zach McGowan said that everyone has their own idea about love and the question driving the TV show forward is whether two people can be in love even though the balance of power is off.

Describing the difficulties that the actors’ faced while filming “Black Sails” Season 2, Zach McGowan said that the weather on the set can sometimes get warm and the actors are invariably wearing corsets or leather pants and boots, which can be “torturous.” But since the actors believe in the show, the actors find the experience to be “creatively fulfilling,” Zach said.
